Hair... Hare... Anywhere!

I have been pondering a haircut for some time now. Haircuts come in seasons, for me anyway. I seem to desire expression of self and experience through my chestnut locks. As the past 6 months have been some of the most painful of my life, I desire the old to be cut away, making room for happier times, like some sort of emotional primer.

But the question remains: how short? I have gone as short as a crew cut, even if that was when I was 19. (None of these pictures are of me, btw.) I love having a pixie crop, because it's so easy-going. And easy-going is for me!

I find the harshness of a buzzed head intriguing somehow, in a yearning-for-truth-and-what-is-real sort of way. But I cannot make up my mind! So, perhaps I shall stand still until I know for sure... because, "If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there."

Speaking of Lewis Carroll, have you seen the new Alice in Wonderland (Disney) by Tim Burton yet? It looks imaginative - and magical!

Disney's Alice in Wonderland, in theaters March 2010.

I haven't seen it yet. But - movie or book - I enjoy stepping into stories,
through the gift of imagination. (Sigh... I love books!)

And speaking of books, Alice has had some charming illustrators over the years,
from John Tenniel's line drawings in the original Alice books
to Mary Blair's illustrations for Disney's animated feature
Alice in Wonderland, below.
Character studies are so interesting, if you're a student or appreciator of animation.

Curiouser and curiouser! From that, to this...

Disney's 1951 animated version of Alice in Wonderland.

I cannot think about Alice in Wonderland without thinking of my
lovely friend Renae's "Wonderland" themed wedding.
She had the most whimsical details,
including invitations with the white rabbit,
colorful cake & teacup floral arrangements
with signs reading "eat me" or "drink me,"
and the cutest details (the little ceramic
snail that I got to take home now resides comfortably
in our patio garden).

I would LOVE to do an Alice themed photo shoot. What fun
to play with size and perspective,
from shrinking to the size of a mouse,
to growing as large as a house!

Or wouldn't it be fun to have a Wonderland tea party?
(Oh, heck! It would be fun to have any kind of tea party!)

There's something about a good story that always draws me to thoughts of heaven, my own life and my destiny. The Bible says that God has "set eternity in the hearts of men." (Ecclesiastes 3:11) The following photographs make my imagination wander, perhaps down the rabbit hole, or down a moss-covered path an enchanted wood. I hope they inspire you as well.

How fun to imagine a photo shoot, and a party... and now it is time to go to sleep and dream. Don't be late! Floating away on a dream is a very important date...
